Frankfurt, November 12, 2004 – After extensive evaluation, Microsoft GmbH has contracted Portum AG as its Supplier-Relationship-Management- (SRM) as well as its e-Sourcing-Software solution partner. Jointly with Microsoft, Portum will develop its complete solution, Enterprise Sourcing Cockpit (ESC) 5.0, based on Microsoft’s „.NET“ Framework 2.0 and will thus take on a leading role in technological development. As a well-established software solution, ESC 5.0 will be specifically designed for large and medium-sized companies in the automotive, chemical, trade and consumer goods industries.
In the meantime, customers can already profit from the Microsoft cooperation through Portum’s current ESC 4.6, built to a large extent on .NET-technology. The new migration will be completed by June 2005. Microsoft .NET is a set of state of the art software technologies developed to link information, people, systems and servers. Based on Web services (small user modules which communicate with each other through the Internet as well as through larger applications such as ERP- systems), these new technologies attain a high degree of software integration.
The extension of the Portum - Microsoft partnership reflects a corporate milestone in Portum’s development and the development of effective sourcing solutions for the industry. According to Robin Titus, VP Product Management at Portum: “The new functionality included in “.NET 2.0“ offers state of the art technology due to its speed and user-friendliness, which will allow our customers to enhance procurement productivity in a sustainable fashion.”
